Deadlines and the Bat Problem

I know this post is a little late. Where did the time go? (And yes, I realize that I sound like an old lady...) I cannot believe that it's only a little over a month before the semester is over. Papers and presentations are piling up. Every day there is another anxiety inducing deadline...

And you know what all this work and late-night study sessions mean?! That's right, I am now an expert on the best take-out food in Athens, OH. I also haven't talked about food in a while, so here I go:
Insomnia Cookies: late-night cookies and ice-cream sandwiches delivered directly to your door. I have never heard of a more genius business idea!!
d.p. dough: incredible calzones and cheesy tater-tots that probably could induce a heart attack. But let me tell you, it's soo worth it.
Avalanche Pizza: not too greasy. Not too crunchy and dry. Just perfect.
Thai Paradise: they don't deliver, but there are just around the corner from the OU Commons. Great Asian food that actually tastes pretty authentic...
The list goes on....
I promised myself not to write about weather again, but this is big news! After Snowpocaplypse it seems that spring has finally arrived in Ohio! The sun is shining and on rare days we even got 20°C! And by the way, Athens is even more beautiful during the spring. The wait has paid off..
Picture from the rally with my favorite sign.
Another good thing about posting this blog entry a little later is that I get to write about the Bat Rally. Students were protesting the university's decision to pay $1.2Mio for a new house for the president and his wife. Supposedly the old house on campus has a "bat problem." Now, I don't know where I stand on this issue, but it was nice to be part of a student protest, even if I was just an onlooker. They even made national news! In Leipzig student activism is big, and it seems that someone is always protesting something. I didn't realize that I missed that until I stood there with hundreds of other students and faculty members (including my history professor) on Park Place. I missed especially the humor of student protests. My vote for best sign at the rally went to "Bat Lives Matter." But I also enjoyed the various bat/Batman costumes. Like my Sociology professor Dr. Scanlan said: "Change doesn't happen by being polite. You have to cause a ruckus."
