Ghosts, Midterms and more Food...

I live with a Ghost.
Yes you read that correctly, I am living in an apartment with an American, a Brit, and quite possibly an invisible citizen of the afterlife whose physical existence I have yet to personally confirm. I have received emails from the ghost. I have seen his things in the bathroom. The Ghost has towels. And body wash. (What brand of body wash do Ghosts use? Good question. Old spice.) But I have never seen this roommate. Sure, I could just ask the other two guys what’s going on but I sort of like the mystery. It’s a nice distraction from the mountain of school work I have to do. Which brings me to a more serious topic (Although what could be more serious the the possibility of living with a ghost :D)...
MIDTERMS!
Late nights at Alden Library have become the standard for me.
If I thought my workload was exhausting before, midterms just tripled that. It’s a strange concept for a German student to have exams after only five weeks, but it kind of makes sense. It forces you to actually review the material as you go along which hopefully will help with finals. Normally I would try and fit the knowledge acquired over an entire semester into my brain right before finals, stressing and panicking with shaking hands (due to the amount of Red Bull that is in my bloodstream). Midterms let you know how you are getting along and grasp the material. They also show you where you still have some work to do. Now, I am not suggesting that we should have Midterms in Germany, but I have made my peace with them.
Lastly, what would a blog be without some food talk. More specifically Sugar. America is a glorious land of sugary sugar-ness. No wait! Corn syrup! I meant corn syrup. Either way its growing on me. When I first came to America, I thought there would be no way I would avoid going into some kind of diabetic coma within my first month of being here. Now a month has passed and I am learning to tolerate and possibly even appreciate my sugary diet. While nothing will ever beat a German bakery, people here know how to do cake and cupcakes and brownies and cookies and icing! Granted I have always had a sweet tooth but I have a feeling that I will never look at pastries the same way. A local recommendation: Fluff Bakery. I am still tasting myself through their menu but Fluff has not let me down yet.

Now I have to get back to writing essays and studying for exams. Thank God it’s almost Spring Break!
